This is a post, served by the Bear Blog Engine.

This is not JAM Stack, i.e. it requires a backend server to run.

The main technologies/frameworkds used are the following:

* PostgreSQL - Persistent database
* Redis - Cache fetch post requests and store JWT auth tokens for invalidation
* Backend coded in Golang using various go modules
* Frontend uses React, specifically the Next.js framework

Making the inital public release took me over 8 months, and was the source of a lot of lessons and firsts. During the making of the blog engine, it was the first time I…

* Used databases
* Used Golang
* Used React or Next.js
* Handled authorization
* Made an SEO website and PWA
* Used github actions and created a basic continuous integration workflow
* Created custome Docker and docker-compose files for a project
* Used keyset pagination
* And much more!

The frontend takes advantage of [incremental static generation](https://arunoda.me/blog/what-is-nextjs-issg). This means that you don’t have to rebuild the site every time to update it, and you still get the time-to-first-byte performance of a pre-rendered page!

## The Editor

The WYSIWYG editor is the same used by the [Outline Editor](https://github.com/outline/rich-markdown-editor), and comes with all your standard markdown formatting, including:
